Alpha Tau Omega

History:

On November 15, 1893 seven men were initiated into the newly formed Indiana Gamma Gamma chapter. The founder of our house was Ferdinand Elbert Smith, Jr. initiated in 1890 into the Alabama Beta Beta Chapter at Southern University. The first initiate was William O. Mundy, and our official charter was signed on January 4, 1894 by E.J. Shives, Worthy Grand Chief, and Otis Allen Glazebrook, Chairman of the High Council. Since the first seven, more than 1600 men have been initiated in Indiana Gamma Gamma.

In 1950 Ford L. Wilkinson, president of Rose-Hulman supported our efforts to build a house near campus. However, it was not until 1965, when the Rose-Hulman Board of Managers embarked upon an expansion program, that we succeeded in getting somewhere.  The house was completed in 1968 and brothers immediately moved in. The house was designed by Scott Wallace, an ATO from Purdue. On March 8, 1969, State Day was held at Rose-Hulman and the house was dedicated. At homecoming during ATOs 100 year anniversary, the house was officially named Ronald Glenn Reeves Chapter House.
